Euskaltel Group to market its products throughout Spain exclusively with MediaMarkt under the R brand

  • Over MediaMarkt physical and online shops in Spain, the operator will be offering premium wifi, customised telephony and services for improved TV experience.
  • The launch will be gradual, opening services in 15 centres in June to cover 87 centres by September.

Bilbao, 26 April 2019. The Euskaltel Group continues to take steps towards consolidating its expansion process through new strategic alliances. The operator has just signed an exclusive agreement with MediaMarkt to market its products in the 87 MediaMarkt shops all over Spain as well as on the company?s website, offering more complete services to its clients. This is a convergent offer covering premium wifi, customisable telephony tailored to client needs, and TV services through its 4K Android TV decoder, with 80 channels and integrated Netflix platform.

This offer, which is completed by MediaMarkt connectable devices (smartphones, Smart TV, gaming and related devices), will be marketed under the R brand throughout Spanish territory and covers sale through the MediaMarkt website. The implementation of this project will be gradual and will begin when the service opens in 15 establishments in June, reaching the 87 MediaMarkt shops by September.

Thanks to the support of the German multinational, the operator will expand its offer throughout Spain, backed by the leading brand in consumer electronics and services in the country, to show its high growth potential over the coming financial years. Likewise, this agreement, with a valid term of five years, will generate new jobs for salespersons in shops and installation and supply technicians.

The agreement likewise envisions other possibilities of collaboration, such as a specialised channel for companies, a special plan for iPhone users and exclusive advantages for Euskaltel Group clients and MediaMarkt Club members. To provide service to its new users, the operator will be able to rely on Orange coverage for its optic fibre network, which provides it a potential to reach up to ten million homes throughout Spain.

The Euskaltel Group adds this agreement with MediaMarkt to its expansion plan by which it will be entering four new markets in the course of this year: Navarre, Leon, Rioja and Cantabria, apart from commercialising products in Catalonia under the RACCtel+ brand after signing an agreement with the RACC.
