Bilbao, 28 May 2019. The Euskaltel Group continues to work to offer the best products and services and to consolidate its position as the main ally of companies, institutions and individuals when taking on new technological challenges. The operator has signed an agreement with VMware which will enable it to offer its customers cloud services based on the most cutting-edge technology of the North American company, a leader in cloud technologies.

In this way, the Euskaltel Group moves closer to zero risk by preventing potential data loss and protecting the data centres of its business customers, which include large corporations and public administrations, thus guaranteeing the continuity of their usual operations. In addition, this system complies with the legislation on protecting the data stored and managed by companies and institutions each day.

The operator's business continuity solution guarantees customers that their IT systems are backed up securely in the data centres of the Euskaltel Group and are always accessible when they need it most, regardless of any kind of contingency: adverse weather conditions, fire, technological failure or sabotage.

We must continue to offer a service that adapts to and anticipates the needs of users through use of the latest technology. María José Talavera, General Manager of VMware in Spain and Portugal, commented: "The Euskaltel Group is one of the main cloud providers in the Spanish market, whose services are based on our technology. Maximum availability and security have been the principal driving objectives of this initiative, which has resulted in the first federated VMware cloud among three data centres geographically distributed in northern Spain, and which also incorporates the VMware Disaster Recovery service among these centres".

The Euskaltel Group includes a virtual data centre in this solution, consisting of a private cloud with all the computing, network, security and storage services necessary for each company to be able to configure their data technology systems. It is, of course, a software-defined data centre or data processing centre. The solution also offers cloud-native connectivity to customers' networks, with unlimited bandwidth, complete security and 1 GB symmetrical Internet access with redundancy.

In addition, the operator offers nearby data centres based in different locations that enable the provision of a solution with the guaranteed endorsement of the Spanish National Security System (ENS).

Moreover, the services defined in relation to VMware's leading visualisation technology allow the integration and complete management of the solution together with that of the customer (thus guaranteeing consistency in operations and infrastructure compatibility), its maintenance, and all under a predictable cost model, among other features.

Arteche, CEO of the Euskaltel Group, added: "The Euskaltel Group is leader in the business sector owing to its flexibility, simplicity and the quality of its offer. Our business plan contemplates strengthening the business sector as part of our strategic pillars to advance in the growth of the company".

Talavera, who had been leading VMware in Iberia nor more than seven years, stated: "the Euskaltel Group and the implementation of the Disaster Recovery service based on VMware technology, forms part of the exclusive programme for cloud providers, which our company has been offering for many years now as a leading service in the market. It consists of a pure OpEx, or pay-per-use, model which adapts perfectly to the reality of the new IT era".
