Euskaltel increases Internet speeds for all customers automatically and at no cost
Bilbao, 5 September 2019. Euskaltel continues to move forward with its strategy to strengthen its position as the industry operator offering customers the best quality telecommunications services at the best market price. As part of this strategy, Euskaltel has increased all customers' Internet speeds -automatically and free of charge- covering the various contract options. All Euskaltel's current Internet customers will be the first to benefit from these improvements to their Internet access and it will happen automatically without users having to request the change.
Euskaltel continuously improves its service offering to customers, supported by the capacity of its state-of-the-art fibre optic network. Euskaltel's continuous efforts to improve broadband access and give users the most comprehensive service offering means that customers who had 60Mb will switch to 100Mb, those who had 120Mb will now enjoy 200Mb, and those who had 350Mb are now on 500Mb. And of course there are no contract price increases as a result of these changes. From now on, all of Euskaltel's direct-access Internet customers will have home speeds ranging from 100 mbps to 500 mbps, depending on their contract.
With this speed increase, Euskaltel consolidates its leading position as one of the main driving forces behind Internet progress in the Basque Country, responding to the needs of customers who connect increasing numbers of devices at home and use services that require speed and connection quality.

This is confirmed by the report "Economía y Sociedad Digitales" (Digital Economy and Society) written by the Orkestra Digital Economy Lab at the Basque Institute for Competitiveness within the University of Deusto, which compares figures for the 28 EU countries in terms of connectivity, human capital, Internet service usage, technology integration and digital services.
According to this study, connectivity in the Basque Country remains at the top of the list -in fourth place-, with countries such as Holland, Luxembourg and Denmark. The report concludes that the Basque Country has outstanding connectivity capacities for both fixed-line and mobile broadband, as well as in fast and ultrafast broadband.
