  • This offer joins the other two already launched by the operator: free 30 GB vouchers, which are also for people that do not have fixed Wi-Fi and those that can?t work from home, and the opening up of more children?s, educational and film channels to all customers with a decoder.
  • Average time spent watching TV is five hours per day, 31% more than usual. Furthermore, the amount of time spent watching on-demand content has increased by 17%, while the numbers of viewers watching free film channels through the #StayAtHome initiative has increased thirteen-fold.
  • Euskaltel aims to ensure the highest quality service while continuing to offer its services as normal during the COVID-19 state of emergency.
  • Euskaltel has significantly enhanced its service to help its customers deal with the isolation measures in place.

Bilbao, 27 March 2020. Euskaltel continues to launch useful initiatives for different groups that need to stay connected or are searching for entertainment options to get them through this period of confinement. The company is now offering Total TV via its online television service so that both customers and non-customers that have to spend time in hospital can access the best TV content.

It is therefore providing free access and sharing this application with everyone that needs it. From now on individuals can enjoy over 50 channels, thousands of on-demand programmes and the option of recording content to watch at a later date. The service operates in the same way as for Euskaltel customers, simply by downloading the mobile application and logging on. There is also a web version that users can find on the website www.euskaltel.com. Like both the Wi-Fi network and the mobile network, the online television service is there for people who are in hospital, making these difficult times more bearable.

In addition to this initiative, Euskaltel continues to work on measures to safeguard and boost connectivity and its entertainment services for everyone.

Free 30 GB vouchers and TV channels

In addition to this proposal, in the last few days the operator has launched other measures to help its customers, such as 30 GB/month of free mobile data to ensure they can stay connected, including when there is no Wi-Fi network available.

As well as the free GB vouchers, Euskaltel is broadcasting various film channels for the whole family for free, and offering free children?s channels for all TV customers regardless of the bundle under contract, provided automatically without needing to subscribe. These children?s channels are Panda, Disney Junior, Disney XD, Baby TV, Nick and Nick Jr. Moreover, to help young people studying at home, it has included the Special History Channel on its on-demand platforms with over 25 history programmes that teach history in an entertaining way, specifically aimed at students who are currently unable to attend school.

Euskaltel hopes that these measures will provide entertainment for families, with the average time spent watching TV currently at five hours per day, some 31% more than usual. Furthermore, the amount of time watching on-demand content has increased by 17%, while the number of viewers watching the film channels that are offered for free through the #StayAtHome initiative has increased thirteen-fold.

As viewing figures over the last 10 days are higher than usual, Euskaltel and other operators are making the following recommendations for a good service experience:

- Use the landline telephone for voice calls given that we are at home.

- Use the home Wi-Fi network to access the Internet.

- Use shared tools (Skype, Teams, WhatsApp, etc.) for voice calls.

- Avoid sending large files and send links instead.

- Download large files at off-peak times.

- Use audio-conferencing instead of video-conferencing.
