Euskaltel's General Shareholders' Meeting confirms José Miguel García's appointment as Group CEO
Bilbao, 10 July 2019. The Euskaltel Group's shareholders this morning confirmed José Miguel García's appointment as the Group's new CEO during the Extraordinary General Meeting held at the Group's headquarters in the Bizkaia Technology Park. The appointment was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors at their meeting on 5 June, following a favourable report by the Appointments and Remunerations Committee.
José Miguel García stated: "It is an honour and also a great responsibility for me to lead this project and I am very much looking forward to it. I have the utmost confidence in this team of professionals and in the strength and solid roots of our brands. Using these assets we have quickly set to work on further strengthening our position in our traditional markets and taking on the opportunities arising in the national market".
It is important to remember that the Board of Directors approved the company's roadmap based on six pillars: a powerful, simple and efficient organisation with an experienced team; a strong product with a consistent and valuable offer; three solid regional brands that can deal with all the opportunities presented by local and national markets and which are the assets that ensure success; a focused commercial strategy based on best practice; a single factory with a robust system, network and operational infrastructure that supports our business strategy and achieves efficiencies; and market expansion that provides great growth potential.
As well as confirming the appointment by co-optation of the Group's new CEO, José Miguel García, the Extraordinary General Shareholders' Meeting also approved the increase of Euskaltel's Board members from 12 to 13, the appointment of Robert Samuelson as proprietary director and it ratified the appointment by co-optation of Eamonn O'Hare as proprietary director.
